....omg... that was depressing. At least the guys seem happy...

Perhaps they should have had the tour underwritten. A lot of people talked shit about the Stones when they did the first underwritten tour (Jovan Fragrances, or as K. Richards put it: "That stinky shit you spray on"). This allows bands to cut ticket prices in half. Of course, people would have yelled 'sellout' if The Dead had a tour underwritten.

"Sometimes the white hair's growing on me
Other times I can barely sing
Lately it's occured to me
Wow, my waaaaaaalllllllet's getting thin..."

maybe they should just halve the ticket prices and tour for twice as long. i don't think i'm paying $72 for nosebleeders. maybe i'll see if i can find something day of show for a discount.

humph.....bad news. Mind meld? So much for "Without a Net"......

The possibilities are infinite? NOT!

For one, on this tour, Jerry will NOT look Tito in the eye from the stage and make Tito cry w/ a beautiful solo during Stella Blue. That is not possible, for several reasons.

Yeah, when I heard him say the possibilities are infinite, and then heard that tired old Truckin' excerpt...well, music speaks louder than words.

OK, the prices are ridiculous, but I did find this little item over at GDTS:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdGUpfl2rCE
Actual video on how to place ticket orders. Reminds me of years ago trying over and over to get through on the phone lines for the recorded message w/ tour dates and order info, then finally getting through and furiously scribbling down the instructions for fear that they may have changed since last tour. Then, 9 times out of 10, you'd miss something (or think you did) and have to start the whole process over again. Actually do miss that ritual and the optomism that came with it...would they stop in a nearby city? Would they stop in a city where I knew someone I could crash with? Would Jerry stop eating twinkies long enough to actually play well this time around? Sorry, the mid 80's still haunt me (OK, OK, they did have some excellent shows here and there...some)

I also remember that...

Like around February the spidey senses would start to tingle and you'd start calling a few a times day. Then when you got that busy signal for 20 minutes, you knew something was up and you started hitting the speed dial over-and-over. Sometimes it could take a couple hours to get through!

i have seen the video.
oh my god, they are terrible and very very old.
save your hard earned money, one or more shows will probably be digitally taped and available for sale in the near future at a pinch of the cost of a ticket.
remember them as they were.
i saw the cream reunited show, and although they were good, and tickets were $75, i want to remeber them as they were in the 60s.

Yep; I love that flick on the 68 farewell at Al Hall, but the 05 movie, though by no means a disaster, just doesn't hold up when viewed within 6 months of one another...

Next to the boys, my fav...

not me man. I saw " the Dead" at the Gorge in 03 and it sucked. I saw the Comes A Time show in Berkeley and it was great. I'd probably go if it was conveinient and cheaper but I wouldn't pay $100 to see them in a sports complex. No way.

I hear ya. Red Rocks on a 4 nighter is one thing. Since the morbitity rates are not in there favor, I am going to hit this one. Denver will sell out. Every Dead Head I know is getting tix for this one. Just to put the cost in perspective a tank of gas 4 months ago was costing me $90.00. I went out to dinner last night and it was $120.00 per couple and my health insurance cost around $2.00 per minute.

that's my main thing - w/o jer, i just don't care. more power to them if they are having fun playing music together - they're musicians, that's what they should do. But it's not like they're making new and interesting music (at least the small snippets they've offered thus far; I'm glad to be proved wrong).

Also, re tix prices, are they that out of line w/ Phil and Friends and Ratdog (of course, I think they should pay you to listen to Ratdog....).

I've found it hit or miss with RatDog. They have been to the NORVA here in Virginia several times over the past couple of years - 3 shows were great (the one with Steve Kimock was superb). One was an abomination - Bobby had to use a teleprompter to get through 'Desolation Row' and he still farked it up. American Babies opened for RatDog and they should have flipped the band lineup around.

Saw them a few years back at the Electric Factory in Philly on the "Cheese-Dog" tour (String Cheese Incident and RatDog summer tour). It was abyssmal. RatDog opened - all the old heads gamely took it in and left after they were done. Watching the young SCI fans flow in to the empty spaces you couldn't help but think the torch had been passed if not gone out entirely. I'm not implying that SCI is better than the Dead, but on that day, SCI was far, far better than RatDog.
